Shopping
The Ebro Delta is ideally situated for visiting many different cities to go shopping. At less than 180 km we have Barcelona, a major global shopping capital, which offers around 35,000 establishments. The most famous area is called the “Barcelona Shopping Line”, 5 km of shops stretching from Las Ramblas up to Avenida de la Diagonal, passing though Plaza de Cataluña and the Paseo de Gràcia. There you can see spectacular windows displaying clothes, accessories, shoes, bags, jewellery, cosmetics, crafts, decorations, ceramics, porcelain, crystal, gifts, souvenirs, wines, liqueurs, cheeses, sausages, desserts, etc… There you can find very exclusive brands including Burberry, Lacoste, Versace, Calvin Klein, Barbour, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Roberto Verino, Levi´s, Adolfo Domínguez, Giorgio Armani, Cartier, Sebago, S.T. Dupont, Ferrari, Swarovski, etc…. And for those who cannot or just don’t want to walk too far, Barcelona offers the best and most complete shopping centres where everything is within reach under one roof so that you can enjoy your shopping experience. Some of the most prominent include, the Maremàgnum Shopping Centre at the end of Las Ramblas, the Arenas de Barcelona Shopping Centre, located in the old bull ring next to Plaza de España; the Diagonal Mar Shopping Centre at the end of Avenida Diagonal, very close to the sea; La Maquinista shopping Centre, far from the city centre but with the charm of being designed in the open air like a small city; El Triangle Shopping Centre, centrally located, in Plaza de Cataluña, and of course the huge traditional department stores El Corte Inglés, with no less than 11 points of sale in Barcelona City.
It is also possible to visit art exhibitions, galleries and antique dealers to purchase some pieces.
It is interesting to know that citizens of non-EU benefit from VAT exemption on their purchases; in other words, their purchases are duty free, so that they can save up to 21% on the value of most non-food products, provided that these are to be taken back to their country of origin.
