Fly fishing
Fly fishing from a boat is perhaps the most technical of all methods and the one requiring the highest level of knowledge and practice. It consists in throwing a fishing rod with a lure at one end that usually weighs very little, and therefore requires a special type of rod with a very fine line. This line should be taken out of the reel by making rhythmic movements with the rod, as when handling a whip. This will cause the lure to fly from the front to the back until you reach such a sufficient length of fishing line off the reel as to allow laying it down flat on the water and making the lure reach as far as to allow the fishing action. The usual practice is to seek and follow the gatherings of gulls and terns chasing small fish, as that’s where we are likely to find them preying larger fish too, which are precisely the target of our catches. This is a very exciting fishing method, as the bite occurs holding a very flexible rod in your hands, with the consequent violent pull and subsequent runs of the fish in a desperate attempt to get rid of the bait. Great skill is required to endure the manual braking strain that must be opposed at any time to the catch in order to avoid breaking the fishing tackle.
